Realizing the necessity for minimizing America’s environmental footprint, Grays Harbor Paper is proud to take the lead
in the development and production of environmentally friendly paper.
Grays Harbor Paper’s Harbor 100 is a high quality printing and writing paper. Harbor 100 contains absolutely zero virgin
fiber material. Instead, 100% of the papermaking fibers are post consumer recycled materials purchased exclusively from
high quality suppliers. To ensure Harbor 100 meets these high recycling standards our processes are certified by the Forest
Stewardship Council’s (FSC) certification program.
Traditionally EPA has suggested 30% PCW, papermaking technology today has allowed 100% PCW production that meets or exceeds
previous quality expectations and printing standards. Harbor 100 is available in offsets, opaques and copy paper.
Although today’s paper market may offer seemingly similar recycled paper products, Grays Harbor Paper’s Harbor 100 differentiates
itself from the other products by employing environmentally friendly techniques in the production of our paper. Because of our
long time commitment to our community and environment we have made investments in renewable energy. Of these investments, we are
most proud of our unique process to manufacture our Harbor 100 using 100% certified renewable, carbon neutral energy.
Our renewable fuel sources are a combination of traditional and nontraditional biomass fuels. This technology leverages
historically burned or landfill deposited wood wastes and turns these sources into clean energy. As a result of Grays Harbor Paper’s
ecologically responsible utilization of resources, several heavily polluting wood waste burners were put out of operation.
Acknowledging our efforts, the Olympic Region Clean Air Authority and the Washington State Department of Ecology, awarded Grays Harbor
Paper commendation for these actions.
In February 2005, Grays Harbor Paper marked a milestone in green paper production. With the addition of our second electrical
generator powered by renewable fuels, this new capacity qualified Grays Harbor Paper for renewable certification by Green-E,
the recognized leader of renewable energy certification in the U.S.
Our energy goal is simple: to produce and provide clean, renewable energy for the production of Grays Harbor Paper, and place the
surplus of renewable electricity back into the northwest power grid.
By utilizing Harbor 100 for your paper needs, no trees will be cut down, no fossil fuels will be burned, and the impact on the health
of the local community will be minimized. The earth is ours; team up with Grays Harbor Paper for your paper needs, and let’s take
care of the earth together.
By using 1 ton of Harbor 100 instead of virgin you save:
